Poppy Poetry - Poppyscotland’s Education Competition

Why is it important to remember?

Who can enter the competition?

Poppyscotland is launching a schools competition with the Scottish Poetry Library.
There are two categories:
Category 1: Primary 4 to Primary 7
Category 2: Secondary 1 to Secondary 3

What can we win?

  • A digital compact camera for the winning poet from each age category.
  • A digital SLR camera for the school of the winning poet from each age category.
  • A poetry workshop hosted by the Scottish Poetry Library and a published poet for the class of the winning poet from each category.
  • Promotion of the winning poems throughout 2010.

What do I have to do?

Write a poem of three to 30 lines inspired by one or all of the photographs shown on the competition poster, and by your thoughts about the importance, and the different ways, of remembering.

When can I enter the competition?

Entries must be received by Poppyscotland by 30 November 2009. Winners will be announced on 23 February 2010.

How do I enter?

Shortlisting of entries will be done by the Scottish Poetry Library. Final judging will be by a panel of judges including:
