Billy's unforgettable story

This film is from the short series, And on we Fight, which was specially commissioned by STV in support of the 2011 Scottish Poppy Appeal, and kindly sponsored by the Scottish Sun newspaper.

This programme tells the story of Billy Strathdea, who lost his leg in a car accident while on a break from active Service in Northern Ireland.  The accident meant Billy could no longer do the job he loved, but he now works for the Lady Haig Poppy Factory in Edinburgh where he helps to produce the county’s 5 million poppies in time for Remembrance each year.  Billy is also preparing to undertake an incredible fundraising challenge for Poppyscotland.  Next year he will swim from Calais to Dover, cycle from Dover to his him in Grangemouth and run the remaining distance to John O Groats.
