About Us
How your Money Helps
Poppyscotland’s flexible approach means we direct our resources where they are needed most urgently. The needs of veterans 10 years ago is very different to their needs today, but because of our commitment to research and evaluation, our supporters can be sure that every year their donations are having the greatest possible impact on the lives of ex-Servicemen, women and their families.
Here are just a few of our flagship initiatives:
• Each year over 1000 ex-Service families are helped to get their lives back on track through our annual and one-off grants.
• Re-training forms an important part of adjusting from a military to civilian career and Poppyscotland funds re-training courses and employment advice services.
• In July 2010 we launched a nationwide advice project for the ex-Service community in conjunction with Citizens Advice Scotland. No matter where you are in the country, dedicated advice for ex-Servicemen and women is only a phone call away. For more details on ASAP visit www.cas.org.uk/Projects/asap.
• July 2010 saw the opening of 10 new purpose-built homes for ex-Servicemen and women in Scone, Perthshire, as part of a £1 million investment by Poppyscotland.
