Ride Ramble or Run 2016

16th August 2016 Fraser Bedwell

As Olympic fever grips the country, Poppyscotland announces entries are open for its fundraising Ride, Ramble or Run family fun event at Fort George, Ardersier, on Sunday 11th September 2016.

Now in its second year, Ride, Ramble or Run offers a number of walking, running and cycling challenges to suit a range of ages and abilities; there’s even a duathlon for the hardy athletes. The event will take place on quiet country roads, with scenic views of Ardersier and the Moray coast.

Participants can choose to run, walk or cycle the following distances: 5k (walk, run and cycle), 10k (walk, run and cycle) and 20k (cycle only).  Two distances are available for the duathlon: a 10k run + 20k cycle and a 5k run + 10k cycle.

In addition to individual ticket prices, which start from £5 for children and £10 for adults, there is a family ticket for £20. After finishing the event participants will be presented with a memento by local veterans.

Poppyscotland is encouraging people to raise additional funds through sponsorship to help it continue its vital work. Regional fundraiser Danny Streames said: “There are lots of ways to support Poppyscotland and the Ride, Ramble or Run offers people a few different ways to get involved. Our aim is to make it fun for everyone which is why we’ve introduced the duathlon this year. We hope that people will be inspired by the Olympics and take part in an event that offers fun, fitness and the opportunity to raise money for our Armed Forces community.”

Ride, Ramble or Run starts at 1pm on Sunday 11th September. For tickets, information and sponsorship forms go to www.poppyscotland.org.uk/rrr
