Organised by supporter group War Torn Troops Remembered (WTTR), the convoy departed from Straiton Park & Ride and travelled to the city. It congregated at the Scots American War Memorial in Princes Street Gardens West where a Remembrance service took place. A pipe band performed and there was a collection for Poppyscotland.
This is the fourth year that the biking community has come together to pay tribute to Servicemen and women who have lost their lives and to raise funds for Poppyscotland. In support of the charity’s current work with members of the Armed Forces community, since 2012 WTTR has raised £12,615 for Poppyscotland through this annual event and other year-round fundraising activity.
Organiser Karen Holmes said: “A big thank to all the bikers who took part today. The event allows us to show our respect and pay tribute to Servicemen and women past and present. We are proud to continue to support Poppyscotland in its important work.”
Poppyscotland’s regional fundraiser Sine Ward said: “The sight of the bikes arriving in the gardens was impressive and we are very grateful to WTTR and everyone from the biking community in Scotland who took part in today’s event. It is heartening to see the continuing and enthusiastic support which will make a real difference to those most in need in the Armed Forces community.”
