Given the current situation, we are unable to accept any applications for the Break Away programme. We will keep this situation under continuous review and provide an update at a later date. All breaks that have been booked have had to be cancelled and those involved have been informed. All current applicants have been advised that no breaks are being booked at this time.
Poppy breaks update
For veterans under the age of 65 we are no longer able to provide breaks through Royal British Legion Break Centres as this service has been discontinued.
Breaks are available to veterans aged 65 and over via our Break Away service. They are available across the UK and are tailor-made according to the individual’s needs and requirements.
We have beneficiaries travel to many destinations in the UK such as Blackpool, Southport, Edinburgh, Fife and London. We have received feedback from one of our beneficiaries to say “we were treated like royalty. Organisations like Poppyscotland let ex-service people like myself know that we are not forgotten”.
Respite breaks are available for those with more complex personal care needs such as a severe physical disability or medical condition. You and your partner / carer can be taken on a break that will be tailor-made for you and give you both the much-needed holiday that you will really enjoy. A popular Respite destination is Malin Court Hotel, Ayr in addition to Malin Court being a care home, it also provides ‘Care Breaks’ for those who would like a short break with full Residential/Nursing care. One of our beneficiaries who stayed at Malin court fed back to say that it was an “unforgettable experience”.
