2014 marked the centenary of the start of World War I. To commemorate the occasion, Fields in Trust are pleased to be delivering a nationwide initiative in partnership with Poppyscotland and our parent charity The Royal British Legion.
Poppyscotland is delighted to be partnering with Fields in Trust on a national initiative to mark the centenary of World War I – Centenary Fields. Centenary Fields aims to secure recreational spaces in perpetuity to honour the memory of the millions of people who lost their lives in World War I. It will create a vibrant, living legacy that both remembers the past and protects the future.
Centenary Fields can include war memorial parks and playing fields or other significant green spaces that have an existing or planned link to World War I.
Communities can commemorate their Centenary Fields with a Centenary Field Day, a programme which celebrates the unique dual nature of Centenary Fields; that they are both a place of remembrance and a space to enjoy fresh air and come together as a community.
