Poppy Pledgers begin 100 day push
A big thank you to everyone who took The 1918 Poppy Pledge. When the 100-day push began on August 4th we had 152 pledgers on board! Schools, businesses, Legion Scotland branches, masonic lodges and individual supporters have been walking, running, cycling, baking, singing, dancing, packing bags and even tasting whisky to raise their £1,918!
In total, we could raise a phenomenal £291,526 to help transform the lives of ex-Servicemen, ex-Servicewomen and their families in Scotland. Once again, a big thank you to everyone who has made
a Pledge – good luck!
It’s still not too late to get involved. For more information about making your Pledge contact Katriona on 0131 550 1567 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Walking with Heroes – the Centenary tour
To mark this significant year, the inaugural Walking with Heroes tour has seen Scotland’s 50-strong Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland wow music-lovers across the country, as they raise vital funds for Poppyscotland.
Gordon Michie, Head of Fundraising, said: “It is a privilege for Poppyscotland to be in partnership with such a talented group of musicians.”
Featuring classical compositions from Holst, Shostakovich, John Williams and Karl Jenkins, as well as traditional Military and brass band arrangements to Scottish folk music, their incredible and powerful performances contain music to move everyone.
The Band is now approaching the end of their first-ever national tour, with a final performance due to take place in the beautiful Inverness Cathedral on Saturday, 20th October. It’s surely one not to be missed. Click here to buy your tickets.
To accompany the Centenary tour, the Band also recorded a Walking with Heroes CD, and, as a package, this serves perfectly to commemorate 100 years since the end of the First World War, and honour those that served our nation so valiantly.
