1921 Poppy Pledge

Poppy Pledge 2021-01

The Poppy is born.

On November 11th, 1921, the first cloth Poppies were sold in Britain. More than nine million had been made, but, such was the nation’s desire to remember those lost during the Great War, that they sold out almost immediately.

That first Poppy Appeal raised more than £106,000 – a huge sum at the time – and the funds were used to help veterans find jobs and homes. An enduring symbol of our gratitude and a lifeline for veterans was born.

100 years on, you can help the Poppy thrive.

The 1921 Poppy Pledge is a year-long celebration of the Poppy. If you enlist for this special campaign, your mission is to raise £1,921 over the course of this momentous year. Raising this amount would be such a fitting tribute to our Armed Forces Community. That’s the gold standard target, you can choose the scale of your pledge. Whichever level you choose, you will have 12 months, until 11th November 2021, to achieve your target. How you do it is up to you.

See how your fundraising target could change lives.

Gold (£1,921)

Your challenge could help fund home adaptations and mobility aids that enable an elderly or disabled veteran to live safely and independently in their own home.

Silver (£921)

Your challenge could fund a specialised training course for an unemployed veteran and greatly enhance their chances of finding a fulfilling job. A vital step towards building a better future for themselves.

Bronze (£521)

Your challenge could fund 15 drop-in sessions at our Inverness and Kilmarnock Welfare Centres for a veteran struggling with personal crises like homelessness, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and isolation. These one-to-one sessions can give a vetaran the emotional and practical support they need to turn their life around.
