Cyclists departed from Prestonpans Community Centre and chose a 45-mile or 70-mile route. The routes took cyclists along the East Lothian coast to North Berwick before heading out into the scenic countryside around Gifford and Pencaitland before heading back to Prestonpans.
Introduced in 2014 to raise funds for Scotland’s Armed Forces community, this year’s event has proved even more popular with all places selling out weeks ahead of the event.
Events Fundraiser Marianne Craig said: “Our aim was to build on last year’s success and I am delighted that we have achieved that. The sportive has been extremely popular with all places filled. We extend a huge thank you to everyone who took part – as well as getting through the physical challenge they are helping to make a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable members of Scotland’s Armed Forces community.”
Thanks to support from Fred Olsen Renewables, each participant’s full registration fee of £35 and additional sponsorship money will be used by Poppyscotland to provide a range of practical support to those who have served, those still serving, and their families. Poppyscotland also thanks Bramik Foods, Leith Cycle Co and Musselburgh Road Cycling Club for their support.
