Financial Accountant

Job title: Financial Accountant
Location:  Edinburgh
Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £45,000 per annum

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant (fully qualified) to ensure that the accounts of Poppyscotland and its wholly owned subsidiary, Lady Haig Poppy Factory, are fully reconciled, accurate and complete.

 

You will prepare month end balance sheet and other reconciliations, ensuring that all reconciling items are correctly identified and dealt with appropriately, and review reconciliations prepared by other members of staff and assist with clearing unreconciled items.

 

If successful, you will be responsible for:

  • To ensure that all daily and month end processes are carried out on a timely and accurate basis, in line with agreed procedures. To recommend improvements to financial processes in order to improve financial controls.
  • To prepare transactions as requested and post them into the accounting system. To review and approve transactions posted by other team members, ensuring that they are accurate and properly documented.
  • To support the production of month end management accounts and supporting narrative for the Poppyscotland Group, ensuring that any variances against budget and forecast are investigated and clearly explained.
  • To support the production of year-end financial statements for the Poppyscotland Group, ensuring that all figures reconciled back to the trial balance and supporting reconciliations.
  • To perform calculations and prepare working papers to support balance sheet accounts and some of the more complex areas of the financial statements, ensuring that the assumptions are clear and the audit trail is robust.
  • To deal with finance related queries from Poppyscotland and LHPF staff, RBL Finance and the organisation’s auditors, as required.
  • To deputise for the Head of Finance as required and support other team members in their learning and development.

Lady Haig Poppy Factory Project Manager

Job title: Lady Haig Poppy Factory Project Manager

Location: Edinburgh

Contract: 12-month fixed term contract, 3 days per week (0.6 full time equivalent) post £30,000, pro rata = £18,000

Salary: £30,000, pro rata = £18,000

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to take the lead on a major project and additionally to be the local coordinator of Facilities Management and Health & Safety for both Poppyscotland and Lady Haig Poppy Factory. 

You will be the project manager responsible for the planning and implementation of all aspects of the major project.  This will include main POC with manufacturers, delivery of all enabling works and engagement in other areas of resultant reorganisation, while working with the rest of the team to ensure full delivery of business as usual.

If successful, you will:

  • Be the project manager for the project
  • Support the LHPF manager and deputise for him as required
  • Work with the History and Heritage team to develop the overall visitor experience programme including the selection and training of tour guides and lecturers
  • Manage all aspects of the new group retail unit located within the factory
  • Work in conjunction with the LHPF manager to deliver associated operational changes as required

Corporate Fundraiser

Job title: Corporate Fundraiser

Location:  Edinburgh

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £33,250 per annum

We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Fundraiser to work with our Head of Fundraising and Learning to assist in the implementation and delivery of the Fundraising Department Strategy.

You will assist with developing, implementing and monitoring the Corporate fundraising operational plan achieving financial targets and Key Performance Indicators, as we as, promoting excellence in donor stewardship which motivates and inspires individuals, groups, and local business to maximise giving.

If successful you will be responsible or:

  • To develop, implement and monitor effective corporate partnership plans. ensuring the objectives of both corporate partners and Poppyscotland are met.
  • To manage the delivery of key corporate fundraising activities.
  • To act as account manager for all Poppyscotland corporate partnerships.
  • To seek out and maximise all networking opportunities to build relationships with existing and potential key corporate partners.
  • To develop and maintain knowledge of Scotland’s corporate sector ensuring all fundraising opportunities are maximised.
  • To work closely with other fundraising functions (in particular the Poppy Appeal), to establish and deliver appropriate corporate support for those functions.
  • To develop and maintain a range of corporate fundraising products and materials.
  • To work closely and in conjunction with the Royal British Legion Corporate Partnerships Team in the development and delivery of UK-wide corporate partnerships.

Please note that the job will require some evening and week-end work including some overnight stays. Flexibility with working hours and travel is required.

Trusts, Foundations and Major Giving Fundraising Manager

Job title: Trusts, Foundations and Major Giving Fundraising Manager

Location:  Edinburgh

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £33,250 per annum

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trusts, Foundations and Major Giving Fundraising Manager to work towards securing significant income through charitable Grants, Trusts, Foundations, High Net worth individuals and Non-statutory Funding Bodies to fund general and specific projects.

 

You will research and identifying appropriate funders whose criteria match our needs, preparing cases for support and submitting compelling written bids and complex grant applications as appropriate whilst building positive ongoing relationships keeping funders informed of our work to maximize the possibility of repeat grants.

 

If successful you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and submit high quality, compelling funding applications to Trusts and Foundations in relation to relevant projects.
  • Identify  and  build  relationships  with  major individual supporters  with  a  focus  on securing substantial new donations, and ensuring our pipeline of supporters is healthy.
  • Nurture good relationships with existing and prospective donors, and develop stewardship programmes.
  • To undertake appropriate presentations and activities in relation to our Trusts and Foundations applications.
  • To liaise with all relevant internal and external bodies including The Lady Haig Poppy Factory and The Royal British Legion, Legion Scotland in order to develop and delivery applications for special projects. 
  • To represent Poppyscotland in a professional way that ensures appropriate communication with our supporters and stakeholders.
  • To ensure grants are received, acknowledged and payment schedules are adhered to in order to ensure an excellent supporter experience at each step of the supporter journey.

Scottish Poppy Appeal Organiser (East)

Job title: Scottish Poppy Appeal Organiser (East)

Location:  Edinburgh and Home based

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £25,813 - £27,288 per annum

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Poppy Appeal Organiser in our East region to contribute to the implementation and delivery of the Fundraising Department strategy by co-ordinating and managing the Scottish Poppy Appeal within a set geographical area - Shetland, Orkney, Morayshire, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Tayside, Angus, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, West Lothian, East Lothian, Midlothian, Borders, Clackmannanshire, Perth and Kinross.

 

You will manage and support volunteer Area Organisers within the set geographical area to maximise the distribution of poppies and the income obtained from the Scottish Poppy Appeal.

 

If successful you will be responsible or:

  • Ensure all fundraising resources and materials are provided to Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory to fulfil the orders alongside the Poppy orders.
  • To communicate effectively with volunteer Area Organisers within the set geographical area to ensure they follow agreed processes and procedures.
  • To develop, implement and review all appropriate Scottish Poppy Appeal activities regularly to ensure they follow agreed processes and procedures.
  • To recruit, liaise with and support Scottish Poppy Appeal Outlets in order to maximise income
  • To manage the co-ordination and organisation of all financial accounting for Poppy Appeal collections within the set geographical area including the recovery of outstanding collections.
  • To manage the distribution of Poppy Appeal materials within the set geographical area.
  • To represent Poppyscotland in a professional way that ensures appropriate communication with our supporters and stakeholders ,
  • To support and proactively develop quality supporter and stakeholder relationships
