Poppyscotland is delighted to support Armed Forces Day.
It's a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets.
What is Armed Forces Day?
Armed Forces Day is the annual opportunity for us all to come together in recognition and celebration of the wonderful service provided by our regular and reservist soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines, past and present, and the families that have supported them in turn.
Taking place on the last Saturday of June, Armed Forces Day marks the end of a week of celebrations. First observed in 2006, the annual event was formerly known as Veterans’ Day before changing to Armed Forces Day in 2009.

Why We Celebrate Armed Forces Day
Armed Forces Day is a national moment to honour the remarkable service of the Armed Forces community and to thank the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who make extraordinary sacrifices on our behalf.
Our Armed Forces protect our values, freedoms and way of life. Whether responding to natural disasters, terrorist incidents, humanitarian or environmental crises, or serving on peacekeeping operations around the world, they work tirelessly for the benefit of society.
In Scotland, Poppyscotland provides lifelong support to serving personnel, veterans and their families. Through expert advice, practical assistance and specialist welfare services, we ensure no one in the Armed Forces community faces challenges alone.
Armed Forces Day Events Across the UK
Armed Forces Week brings communities across Scotland together to recognise the contribution of Service personnel, veterans and their families. From the Borders to the Highlands and Islands, local events offer opportunities to show support and enjoy military displays, parades and family‑friendly activities.
While celebrations take place throughout the UK, Scotland plays a proud and visible role each year. Communities across the country host their own moments of recognition — from flag‑raising ceremonies and school activities to town‑centre parades and community gatherings.
